The Late Chief George Nworgu (1938–2024) was a visionary leader, family man, and pillar of the Nigerian community in the UK.

Born on November 8, 1938, in Rivers State, Nigeria, he excelled academically, culminating in a degree in Economics from the University of Hull. He built a successful career with the General Post Office (and later British Telecom following the split of the postal and telecommunications operations) in the UK, where he stood firm against racial discrimination, defending his principles with courage.

A passionate advocate for unity, he held pivotal roles in Nigerian communities in the UK and had a commitment to fostering harmony beyond cultural divides.

George had five children and ensured to instill values of discipline and learning. Known for his wisdom, resilience, and love of travel and fitness, his great legacy will not only live on through his family but also many of you who regarded him as a great friend and those who saw him as a father figure, a source of unwavering guidance and a great visionary whose brilliance has shaped our time.
