James Joseph Carway, known to everyone as Jim, was born on 5th October 1948 and grew up in Farley Hill, Luton, alongside his brothers and sister in a close Irish family.
Music was at the heart of Jim’s life from an early age. Inspired by his father, he learned to play the accordion and went on to become a well-known DJ and radio presenter, hosting the Irish music programme Luton Irish Live on Diverse FM for many years.
Jim was also a proud and active member of the Irish community in Luton, playing a key role in the town’s St Patrick’s Festival for over 25 years and helping bring people together through music and celebration.
Above all, Jim will be remembered for his warmth, his love of music, his friendships, and the lasting impression he made on so many people in the community he loved.
